Memorial Day Weekend

It is always nice to have Mike home for a 3 day weekend. On Friday night I was feeling the need for a little break, so once Mike got home he put Olivia to bed so I could get out for a little break. I did a little window shopping at Old Navy, TJ Maxx, and Kohls.

The next morning I woke up and did a long training run. After my brother Tim was kind enough to watch Olivia so that Mike and I could grab a bit of lunch at Chuck-o-rama (I'm a bit embarresed to admit that I actually love this restaurant, even though it is definetley a bit hickish). After lunch Olivia woke up from her nap, and we took her to this water park a couple of miles from our house. She had fun on the playground portion of the park, but was a bit timid of the icy cold water squirting up from the ground! That night Tim's girlfriend Kate had borrowed a Wii from someone, so Mike and I got to try our hand at interactive video games. It was fun, but I must say that I'm so glad that Mike isn't a "gamer".

On Sunday after church I was sitting in a chair in the hall talking to one of our neighbors, the chair had a side table next to it, Olivia was trying to squirm out of my arms, and, without warning, she slammed her nose down on the edge of the table. She started crying hard and bleeding everywhere. It always hard to see your little one hurt, not to mention bleeding everywhere. Eventually we were able to get her calmed down and the bleeding to stop. Her nose wasn't swollen or anything, but being the cautios first-time mom that I am, I decided we should take her in to an insta-care clinic to have a doctor take a look at her nose. He said it looked fine, and that because most babies her age still have mostly cartiledge in their noses, it would be unlikely that she broke or fractured anything.

Monday morning Tim offered to watch Olivia so that Mike and I could go for a jog. Then we put Olivia in the stroller, walked to the grocery store, and picked up a few things for breakfast. I made our favorite waffle recipe, so yummy!

Then we went drove down to Springville to show the condo to some potential buyers. They seemed pretty interested and are going to come look at it again this week. After we went to our friend Jason's house. He is a realtor and is going to be listing the condo for us. Then we went over to Mike's parents' house for a family bbq. It was a nice, relaxing weekend!

I'm the worst at remembering my camera and documenting things we do with pictures, but what's a post without pictures! Here are some recent cute ones of Olivia:

Olovia loves to pull all the pitchers out of our lazy-suzan cabinet. The other day she was playing in the kitchen, and then I hear her crying, so I ran over to see that she had gotten stuck while trying to play in the cabinet. "Stuck" is actually one of her favorite words to say, so there she was wedged in the cabinet, repeating over and over "stuck."

Kudos to all those Moms who work full time out there. This summer I'm finishing up my last two classes at BYU, so I have class for an hour and a half every day in Provo at 2pm. This daily class requires that Olivia and I leave the house everyday at 1pm (right smack-dab in the middle of her nap, of course), drive to meet my sister-in-law Sara (who is so generously watching Olivia for me every day even though she is eight months pregnant with her first), drop Olivia off, sprint to class, sprint back to pick up Olivia, then hurry home by 4:30 or 5 pm, start making dinner, bed time routine, etc. I know, leaving the house at 1 pm really shouldn't be too rough, but it requires a lot more planning in my day to make sure I get everything I need to do at home all finished before 1pm. I know, I am a wuss, but I can't imagine being gone from 7 am til 5 or 6 pm--a big KUDOS to all those women who can juggle it all and remain sane!
Anyway, even amongst our grueling (not) schedule, we still manage to find the time to bake cookies every know and then. Here's a few cute ones of Olivia:

I can neither confirm or deny allegations that the mixing spoon went back into the cookie dough bowl after being in Olivia's mouth. Let me just make it known for the record that those were vegan cookies (egg-less and dairy-less due to Olivia's allergies), so she was the only one who ate them anyways.

Other than making cookies and driving to Provo every day, we've been involved in the all the usual fun activities of play dates, park trips, baby showers, a few date nights, and a even a fun family trip to Wheeler farm. Soon I'll get my blogging act together and start documenting these events as they happen!

Crowd Pleasers

So, as I have mentioned before, I love the website www.allrecipes.com. Recently, I've tried a few recipes from this site that are definitely keepers!

White Chicken Cheesy Lasagna

Sooooooooo good, but definitely not low-fat (but who really cares about that anyway?)

Raman Noodle Chicken salad

Okay, this recipe doesn't call for chicken, but I wouldn't even attempt it without adding a cup or two of diced, cooked chicken breast. The chicken is a must! Also, I use sesame seeds instead of sunflower seeds.

Isn't it so revealing that I haven't posted in a long time, so when I finally do update, it's all about food.
