September/October 2006
Mom Benson commented today that it's about time for another update from the MCBenson Blog. It seems that everyone (on Mike's side of the family, anyway) has written letters recently, so I thought we'd send out an update as well!
Olivia: Olivia is, as always, the light of our lives. She is perfect, in my opinion, except for her one major flaw, which is an obsession with electrical cords. It is funny how they learn so quick what they are and are not supposed to do. She will wait till I'm not looking and bolt towards the nearest cord and plug. When I call her name, it always startles her, and she will look all guilty. She is crawling quite well, can pull herself to standing, is loving Mom Benson's homemade baby pears and peaches, and is finally starting to sleep a bit better for the first time since we moved.
Caitlin: Not much new with me. The highlight of my month was my brother Tim returning from his mission in Carlsbad. My Dad came to visit as well on his way out to CA to pick Tim up from his mission. We enjoyed Confrence weekend togther. My Dad was able to get us tickets for confrence. I am so proud of Tim and the hard work he has given these last two years. He was even called to serve as AP, but what really impresses me is the dedication he seemed to have to the work. He was an obedient and selfless missionary who was in it to serve the Lord and others, not for personal gain. Hopefully he will be coming to Utah to live and attend school in a few months!
Also this past month my old roommate got married, so all "the girls" were in town for the weekend. It was fun to have lots of girls'-days-out and see all my friends I miss. I have also started learning ASL at BYU, and I am loving it! Thanks to my sisters-in-law for helping me practice!
Michael: Mike stays very busy with work and his long commute. His boss has been giving him lots of programming assignments on the side, so that Mike can get experience and hopefully be promoted to a programming position in his department soon. He looks forward to his long awaited guided fly-fishing trip he got for Christmas. He and a few friends will go this weekend to learn how to better fly fish off pontoon boats. I'm just glad he gets to have a whole day fishing that I won't have to accompany him on!
